Are you facing redundancy?

Was your role one of the 695,000 that was made redundant post Covid-19?

According to a piece written by the Guardian, redundancies rise at the fastest rate since 2009. This has meant that almost a half of those on furlough will not be returning to their previous job.

Receiving notice of redundancy can be a difficult time, particularly in these uncertain times where secure jobs can be hard to come by, and when you find them, are snapped up quickly by the best candidates.

What choices do you have?

Hopefully your redundancy package can give you a little breathing space to truly consider your options. You do spend a lot of time at work, so it’s important that you find the right role and company to work for.

If you have decided that working for someone isn’t what you want to do, why not consider going in to business for yourself?

Working for yourself

You can throw your redundancy package in to your new business venture and hope for the best. Or you can invest it, in a franchise opportunity.

Franchising is a safer route in to business because the business model is proven, brand is established, and support is on hand for when you need it.

You still get all of the great benefits that you do working for yourself, just that you aren’t by yourself and have all of the great benefits of being part of something bigger.

Financing your new start

If you either you didn’t receive much of a redundancy package, none at all or have spent it, there are still options that you can consider so that you don’t have to go back in to employment.

The UK Government have a start-up loan scheme where you could be eligible to finance funds of up to £25,000.

Also, as a British Franchise Association associate member, most major banks and finance providers will lend (subject to personal status), up to 70% of the total franchise fee.

If you’d like to discuss your options following redundancy, give our franchise sales team a call on 0116 275 9005.

Proud new business owner for Contract Services Wembley-Kensington

Local resident Austin Sibtain is the proud new owner of ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Wembley & Kensington areas.

Part of Austin’s vast experience has previously seen him heading up a trust company London office with over 20 staff, so Austin understands well, that sorting the office cleaning may not be the top priority for many business owners, but appreciates the critical importance of image, presentation and the right perception, for ANY business.

The new importance of ‘clean’

For many years, cleaning has been seen as a low-level job role but with the COVID-19 pandemic gripping the country, cleaning is now being recognised for the important role it actually plays. Austin saw first hand the demand for clean and hygienic premises and chose to partner up with an established brand as ServiceMaster Clean. This partnership means that Austin can offer exceptional cleaning services with his dedication to quality of service and local commitment, whilst having the backing and support from a national brand and network.

The future looks bright for Austin

Austin has a fantastic attitude and this will fair him well in his new venture. The future might look uncertain for many, but Austin is certain that having identified a need in the business world for clean and hygienic premises, that his business will flourish in providing them.

“Throughout my career I have worked with the ethos that whatever you do, you should do it properly. To some, it may just be seen as cleaning but there is real value in getting the cleaning right, especially in light of COVID-19. At the end of the day, I’m here to assist my clients”, said Austin Sibtain, owner of ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Wembley – Kensington.

Here every step of the way

Austin will be supported in the business disciplines required to operate a first rate commercial cleaning business. Brand Manager, Guy Strang will head up support from the operational angle.

Having such a good work ethic, attention to detail and business knowledge, we know how successful Austin can be, we’re excited to see him succeed and become one of the leading ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services businesses within the network”, added Guy Strang, ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Brand Manager.

We look forward to supporting and watching Austin grow his venture to new heights.

Is now the right time to start a business?

Like many others, you may find yourself questioning whether now is the right time to start a business. This is perfectly understandable given the current climate and the uncertainty in the air.

What do the statistics say?

Year to date, we have seen a 70% increase in enquiries from prospective business owners looking to join our franchise opportunities compared to 2019. Interestingly, the increase began just as we entered in to national lockdown. This poses the thought that many individuals were evaluating their options.

What are the common reasons for joining?

At ServiceMaster brands, we have welcomed several new franchise owners over the last nine months and the reasons for joining our franchise brands vary. One thing in common is that entrepreneurs are looking to be in business for themselves, but not by themselves.

Increased financial support

The recent situation has seen a rise in financial aid from the government and the government back start up loan scheme is proving to be popular. Decisions are made and paid out within eight weeks meaning that starting a business could be just around the corner and is much quicker than saving up before purchasing.

Security

Franchising is one of the safest routes in to business because the brand is already established, the business model is proven and support is on hand all of the way through the journey. As such, the risk is much lower in joining a franchise, whenever you may choose to join.

Although there have been many changes and surprises throughout this year, one thing that has remained constant is our level of support to both existing and prospective business owners. Our franchise recruitment department has remained open to those exploring going in to business for themselves and not by themselves, with virtual training academies for those who wish to proceed.

Contract Services Super September

It has certainly been a Super September for welcoming new franchise owners in to our ServiceMaster Contract Services franchise, as we have welcomed three new business owners, and sold seven individual territories. Four of those are additional licences for existing franchisees.

Due to the present situation surrounding the restrictions brought by Covid-19, all new business owners were able to sit the academy virtually ahead of starting their new businesses officially soon after completion.

Business partners Michal Kawerski and Dariusz Kowalik are the proud new owners of ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Warwick. The pair are no strangers to the contract cleaning sector having already set up a commercial cleaning business that they felt needed the help and support of an established brand such as what we can offer at ServiceMaster Clean. Their decision to join our franchise was almost a year in the making before finally joining our training academy this September.

We also welcomed Asim Sibtainas the new owner of ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Kensington & Wembley after he spent two years researching our franchise opportunity following a recommendation from an existing franchise owner of ours. Asim’s career background was spent in banking and finance which helped him to decide on our franchise because the numbers added up for him.

Finally, existing Merry Maids business owner Amandip Bahia decided to further invest in our family of brands by purchasing not one, but two ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services licences in Nottingham and Derby. Amandip’s experience in running a business, a cleaning one at that, will be certain to get him off to a flying start along with our unrivalled support.

The remaining four territories in Derby, Luton, Watford and Wolverhampton were secured by existing ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services business owners to grow their businesses even further before the opportunities were taken by likeminded others.

We truly have had a Super September and look forward to many more months the same.

With a select few territories remaining, it’s a good time to discuss the prospects of owning a ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services licence, or a few of them like many of our existing franchises owners!

Contact our Franchise Sales Team on 0116 275 9005 for our territory availability.

Business owners have reason to be ‘Merry’

It’s no surprise that a ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services franchise is desirable to those entrepreneurs who are keen to make money. Within our sister brands we are already well acquainted with money-making entrepreneurs and as such, it’s common for franchise owners to join other brands within our umbrella.

In the month of September, two existing Merry Maids business owners committed to purchase three ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services territories between them, in addition to their existing successful domestic cleaning businesses.

Tom Jackson who is the proud owner of four territories within our Merry Maids network including; Dudley, South Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Solihull, made the bold decision to purchase his first Contract Services licence in March this year. Having owned his new venture for just six months, Tom decided it was wise to secure a second territory before someone else had the same great idea. Tom now covers both the Dudley and Wolverhampton areas by offering professional contract cleaning services.

Tom isn’t the only Merry Maids franchise owner who was able to recognise a great business opportunity when he saw one. Amandip Bahia current owner of Merry Maids Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick decided that he would also like to embark on our much acclaimed ‘multi-million-pound’ franchise opportunity and secured two territories in Nottingham and Derby.

Due to the present situation surrounding the restrictions brought by Covid-19, both business owners were able to sit the academy virtually ahead of starting their new businesses officially soon after completion.

The ServiceMaster brands offer genuine money-making franchise opportunities to those individuals with drive and a strong ambition to succeed.

Siva secures his fifth territory

Siva secures his fifth territory

Joining the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services franchise in early 2017, Siva hoped to double his turnover in a timeframe of eighteen-months and instead smashed his target and grew his investment by 101% for his Guildford territory within just one year.

It was clear to Siva that the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services franchise offered a strong brand and a proven business model that could help him to make more money and to achieve his business aspirations. As such, just twelve months in and having grown his turnover by another 220%, Siva purchased his second territory covering Thames Valley.

Three years in, Siva further invested in his business by purchasing a further territory covering Bracknell and saw his turnover reach new heights yet again with an impressive 69% increase.

Whilst the year of 2020 has been unexpected for everyone and a difficult year for most, Siva has budgeted for a 50% increase in turnover and has also committed to a further two territory areas covering Watford and Luton.

There is no denying that the growth in turnover and territory ownership didn’t come overnight. Siva and his dedicated team have worked tirelessly to build a sustainable and profitable business over the last three years. The team are committed to delivering high standards of commercial cleaning, combined with unrivalled customer service and this is reflected in the high customer satisfaction scores that the business receives.

The future certainly looks bright for Siva and his five ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services territories, we look forward to working with Siva to achieve his goals for the remainder of 2020 and beyond.
